Theistic Satanism is an umbrella term for forms of Satanism in which Satan is understood as a real spiritual being or deity rather than only as a symbol, archetype, or literary figure. There is no single worldwide authority that defines every theistic Satanist, so theology and practice vary.
What the term means in this Church
The High Satanic Church uses the term in a straightforward way: we believe Satan exists independently of human belief and we direct worship, ritual, contemplation, and private devotion toward him. We describe that as a religious belief. We do not present personal spiritual experience as a laboratory result or require members to exaggerate what they have experienced.
How this differs from non-theistic Satanism
The Church of Satan and The Satanic Temple describe Satan in non-theistic or symbolic terms. Our congregation takes a theistic position. That difference is theological; it is not a claim that one organisation has a monopoly on the word Satanism.
Practice and responsibility
Practice may include quiet devotion, ritual, meditation, study, journaling, and communal gatherings. Members retain personal judgement and responsibility. Harm, coercion, abuse, violence, and illegal activity are not religious duties and are not accepted here.
About this congregation
The High Satanic Church is a small, fully online congregation founded on 15 March 2026. Membership and ordinary participation are free. We do not claim an older institutional lineage. Some of our metaphysical vocabulary overlaps with terms used in other esoteric currents; where that happens, we define our usage openly rather than treating shared vocabulary as proof of affiliation.
