Satan as Deity

At the foundation of our faith is the recognition that Satan is real. He is not a literary invention of the Nazarene theologians, not an archetype from the collective unconscious, not a mascot for secular humanism. Satan is a living, numinous being — a deity of immense power and wisdom who has existed since before the Nazarene religions attempted to define and thereby diminish Him.

Our relationship with Satan is one of genuine devotion and communion. We approach Him through prayer, ritual, and contemplation — not to make demands, but to deepen our understanding of the numinous and to strengthen the bond between deity and devotee.

Core Tenets

On the Nazarene Distortion

The Nazarene traditions have spent two millennia constructing an image of Satan designed to inspire terror and obedience among their congregations. This image — the tempter, the deceiver, the embodiment of all evil — is a fabrication. It tells us nothing about Satan and everything about the Nazarene need to control through fear.

We do not define ourselves in opposition to the Nazarene faiths. They are simply irrelevant to our practice. Our understanding of Satan predates their mythology and will outlast it.

On Morality and Honour

The theistic Satanist's ethic is rooted not in commandments but in honour. We hold that each individual is responsible for their own conduct and its consequences. We do not require the threat of eternal punishment to behave with decency, nor do we require the promise of paradise to find meaning.

Honour demands honesty. Honour demands courage. Honour demands that one does not harm the innocent — not because a deity forbids it, but because such action is beneath the dignity of one who has committed to genuine spiritual attainment.
